My last creation involving cheap canned crab and lots and lots of Panko crumbs left a bad taste in my mouth, so I had to redeem myself. All I needed was an opportunity to cook something delicious for a group of people and prove once again that I can make delicious food.
Now all I needed was an excuse to get people together, so I could make them something…
Queue the Super Bowl!
The Super Bowl happens once a year sometime in February. I know this because once a year, our family gets together and has delicious appetizers and we all sit down to watch commercials. Although I don’t know anything about the origin of the Super Bowl, I do finally know that it has been around for 50 years. I know this because the guys that run the NFL (Neighboring Flower Llamas) finally switched the name of the Bowl to normal ‘Murican numbers instead of Roman Numerals.
So THIS year, I decided to hijack the Super Bowl party and make some delicious food. And what better way to make delicious food than using my good friend Eggbert!
In case you don’t know, Eggbert is currently my-best-friend-who-is-not-my-wife. He sits in our backyard every day, waiting for me to feed him. When I do finally put delicious meat inside his mouth, he smokes it on low heat for 30 minutes to 18 hours, depending on what I tell him to do. When I open him back up again, he presents to me the most delicious Mana from Heaven, perfectly cooked every time.
Everyone in our house loves Eggbert.
Back to the Super Bowl. So this year, me and ol’ Eggbert cooked up ribs and wings. I tried out a rib rub that was purchased in the store, instead of home made like I usually do. I can’t say that I enjoyed it any better than my normal rub, but it sure was easier.
The ribs themselves turned our perfectly, the wings were delicious (a tad undercooked, because people were getting really hungry), and the party was a success. The sportsy teams did their sporting. Some lady got up on stage and aired out her dirty laundry in front of millions of people. And the commercials were great. A wonderful time was had by all.

You may think the Superbowl is just about the food, but we sure do have a fun time watching the game too! I think being football fans for one day a year works for us ;o)
