I love the power that YouTube has to bring free, fun, informative programming to every person that has an internet connection. I love it so much, in fact, that I’m going to create a curated playlist every month of the funniest, most interesting, most thoughtful videos that I’ve seen.

The intention of this playlist is to replace watching one movie, so I’ll generally keep these playlists between 1 and 1 1/2 hours. I myself watch mostly informative, family friendly videos. So you should be fine watching this with all members of your family, although younger children may get bored with some of the videos.

I hope you guys understand just how much I wish you could watch all of these videos every month. I try really really hard to make sure to pick things that are going to entertain and educate. And who doesn’t like that? However, because I know that each of you only has so many hours in a day, here is the micro-descriptions of this month’s playlist:

I’m guessing that by now, most of us have shunned those lofty resolutions we set and are now back to our old selves again (phew!). However, for those wanting a little kick start on your yearly goals, here are four videos that will inspire you to teach you the science behind motivation, how to stay motivated, how to do something that’s hard, and for your weight-loss-resolution types out there, I even included videos that explores diet vs. exercise and another on what’s the deal with protein shakes.

After you are feeling properly guilty again about those pesky resolutions, I’ll help you work on forgetting them again with some stand-up comedy! Caution – this is not for kids!

And now it’s time for some learning! This month, we learn about clouds, trains, mirrors, and crime.

If your brain feels like exploding from learning too much, sit back and relax at Ikea with Donna’s husband and his awful puns! After that, settle down with Bert and Ernie for one of my favorite sketches from Sesame Street.

Finally, I’ve saved the best for last. If you’ve read this far without clicking on anything, be sure to watch this presentation on space travel, given using only the 1,000 most simple words in the English language. Follow that one up with some serious thoughts on the impact ‘Social Media’ is having on our social lives. The last video on the list is for anyone like me and Donald Trump, and should help you figure out what the heck the United Kingdom really is!

And for those faithful few out there, click here to watch the entire set of videos. I promise you’ll be glad you did!

In this set, we’re going to start off with Weird Al’s modern take on classic song. After that, we’ll stop off at YouTube University for a bit where we’ll learn about the effects of soda on the human body, what on earth ‘base 12‘ means, and why are people on the internet so mean? Next, kick back and relax to the amazing sounds of piano, cello, and… bagpipes?

Next up is a short break where we’ll share our ‘Thank Yous’ with Matt Harding. Go ahead and skip to the 8 minute mark on this video, where you too will get to experience the moment where Matt personally thanks the creator of this blog for helping him fund his next video!

Finally, we’ll close out this set by slowing things down with the Slo-mo guys, figure out how you can use math and a little plastic to stump your friends, step back in time with Mr. Jackson, and learn a little bit about everybody’s favorite font to hate.

Or, if ALL of those sound interesting to you, and you have about an hour to burn, Click here to start at the first video and watch the entire playlist.

As a bonus this month, I’m throwing in an extra set of videos. This playlist was created by Mike Rugnetta. It’s… well, it’s a little bit weird. Mike introduces us to the concept of YouTube Poop. These are videos that have been created to be unlikable and sometimes disturbing. The reason I like this so much is because Mike teaches us how to find any value in the YouTube equivalent of Andy Warhol’s work
